Thialf has a long and rich history. Since 1966, the arena has seen many top performances. In 1986 Thialf had a roof built, and a large number of world records were smashed. Johan Olav Koss, Ireen Wüst and Sven Kramer – to name but a few – delivered world-record performances. For 25 years ice has been produced in Friesland that ranks with the best in the world. In addition, Thialf has a quarter of a century’s experience in large skating events.
In 2013, the Thialf arena was about to take a step towards a new era for skating. In Friesland, the top skating region in the world, work is underway that will shape the future of skating. From 2014, the first of a new generation of skating rinks will emerge here. A Thialf arena where the Netherlands will redefine a top-flight skating rink as well as move ahead of the rest of the world. An Olympic ice facility: Thialf Heerenveen. Ready in 2016.
At AT Osborne, we are proud to be working on this project. We have been involved in renovating the ice arena since 2014. In the last few years, we have assisted Thialf on a number of European tender procedures, including those related to the renovation of Thialf and the hospitality businesses it holds. We have assisted Thialf throughout the contract preparation and tendering process from start to finish. In addition, we have provided contract preparation and legal assistance during the implementation of the project.
